Is this going to be a thing now

This would be funny if it wasn’t for the fact it’s fucking untrue. Posting jokes about the feminism movement just highlights the overwhelming ignorance about what the movement addresses. So many people don’t know shit about what the movement is fighting for- which is why I’m pretty fucking offended when people who don’t know shit, feel sufficiently entitled to make jokes about it. I’m surrounded by morons honestly- in real life and in cyberspace. They’re like a fucking vacuum of bigotry and ignorance.

Hmmm…

I totally get that feminism does not inherently carry these traits and concede that there are PLENTY of feminists who are working their asses off to combat these ideas and that this could be very discouraging to them. But to say that those who made/posted this image are merely showing ignorance is ignorant yourself. To say that there is no basis for the motivations behind this image, that the ideas expressed aren’t actually expressed is absurd. Because as many great feminists as there are in the world, there are also plenty of those who make these ideas very ignorantly clear while masquerading under the word feminism. True, it tends to be a specific culture of white middle class women in their 30s and 40s but it is still a prevalent and real one, and we have to stop denying its existence in the world of feminism and make it very clear that this sure as hell is not what feminism is about.

"If you’re gonna have pizza with someone else, what do you have to do? You gotta talk about what you want. Even if you’re going to have the same pizza you always have, you say, ‘We getting the usual?’ Just a check in. And square, round, thick, thin, stuffed crust, pepperoni, stromboli, pineapple — none of those are wrong; variety in the pizza model doesn’t come with judgment. So ideally when the pizza arrives, it smells good, looks good, it’s mouthwatering. Wouldn’t it be great if we had that kind of anticipation before sexual activity, if it stimulated all our senses, not just our genitals but this whole-body experience. And what’s the goal of eating pizza? To be full, to be satisfied. That might be different for different people; it might be different for you on different occasions. Nobody’s like ‘You failed, you didn’t eat the whole pizza.’"

NY Times: Teaching Good Sex

I remember reading this article- it was a fantastic analogy comparing sex to pizza instead of the usual “bases” comparison. Pizza works as an analogy so much better because it is able to celebrate the diversity of sexual desire.

Sex as pizza, bitches, it’s the best sex model I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard quite a few.

The original article I read (much longer) that also takes apart the baseball metaphor piece by piece, can be found though Yonder Blue Text
